...that I watched in 2022. slight but no major spoilers.
10. Black Panther: Wakanda Forever (2022)
Visually stunning, and pays tribute well to the OG. A bit bloated and parts of the plot were mediocre, although
the underwater Namor dude was pretty cool. A huge boost due to the hella hype MIT campus scenes.
9. Turning Red (2022)
All the elements of a classic Pixar animation plus a new and creative story. Action-packed and comically portrays the Asian-American
lifestyle. Huge W for director Domee Shi, whose short film Bao is my favorite ever.
8. The Truman Show (1998)
Yea I finally watched this. Seems like it was a novel concept at the time that's become even more relevant over the
years, and everything about it is solidly pulled together.
7. Bodies Bodies Bodies (2022)
As far as horror movies are concerned, it's the GOAT!!! I hate horror movies. Utterly hilarious, and a
twist you will surely never see coming.
6. Black Orpheus (1959)
A fresh take on an ancient Greek legend that also emphasizes traditional Brazilian music
and carnival culture. The drums from the soundtrack are persistent and instantly make you move.
5. Parasite (2019)
Amazing all around. Riveting. First-rate. Thought-provoking.
4. Elvis (2022)
Ohhhh my love, my darling. An epic depiction of a legend that makes Elvis's music come alive again. And fantastically
tells the tragic nothing-to-everything story being too much to handle. The Elvis sandwich looks fire though.
3. When Harry Met Sally (1989)
My favorite out of several classics I watched for the first time this year. Feels refreshing and natural.
A highlight scene at Katz's Deli, one of the best restaurants of all time.
2. CODA (2021)
A story so simple but touching. Common themes of coming-of-age, family, love, and dreams are woven together in a powerful way
with the challenges that come with being deaf. The soundtrack is probably my favorite of all time and had me singing modern
renditions of Joni Mitchell and David Bowie songs for months.
1. Everything Everywhere All At Once (2022)
Absolute masterpiece. The multiverse concept is executed purposefully and flawlessly, and each character is so vivid
and multidimensional. I find Waymond's arc particularly captivating and inspirational. Each scene has so much attention to
detail and the multitude of themes come together perfectly.
